Ever since Hudsonville revamped their downtown area I’ve wanted to come down here for a session. When Senior, Skyler from Hudsonville mentioned she wanted to show case the area I was beyond thrilled. We began her session in Jamestown (part of the Hudsonville area) at Spring Grove Park. For as long as I can remember this has been a go-to spot for photos because of it’s beautiful landscaping. When I arrived I was determined to make it unique for Skyler so it wasn’t just like everyone else’s photos. Currently it’s engulfed in a sea of green and yellow which is a nightmare for a photographer. You might be thinking “But Kara isn’t that what all photographers want?” The answer is somewhat yes but with lots of trees all these colors bounce a green hue right on my subject’s skin and I did not want that for Skyler. We were able to obtain enough sky light by stepping away from the typical scene and showcase her natural beauty.
To answer another question, no Skyler is not a model. However this session could fool you because she seems like a natural. Looks like choir and cheer are not her only gifts. Upon meeting her I noticed her sweet, confident, demeanor and I’m not sure if this is typical but to help her feel this way was such an honor. Skyler I hope your year is one of the greats. It was a pleasure meeting you and your mom and I hope to see you again soon!
