Sometimes I never know how things are going to turn out when I meet a client for the first time. Sometimes the anxiety sets in before I show up because my confidence turns on me and I start to doubt my abilities. I think this is true for a lot of us when we are doing something we love. We grasp so tightly to it because we’re afraid it can be ripped out from under us.
When I arrived to Demi’s session not knowing anything about her, it only took one moment where we began talking when everything mellowed and I just knew this session was going to be so much fun. She is the sweetest and the minute her mom took a peek at the back of my camera they were both so excited and we just had a lot of fun. My favorite part of my senior sessions is the moments in between locations when we move around because that is the time I really get to know them. I get to ask what they are involved in, if they have plans beyond high school yet and I feel like this is where I truly do what God has placed on my heart, which is listening to people about their life. Photos are more than images, they encompass a person and where they are in their life right now. Something to look back on many years down the road. I hope Demi remembers not only her own beauty (because I mean, come on, she’s gorgeous) but the beauty she has within. How she cares for others and spends time with younger girls in her school district to let them know there’s more to what’s on the outside.
Demi I hope this senior year gets you all excited and that you make the most of it. Someday I hope our paths cross again and until then girl, best of luck!
