This was the second time I visited Old Stonegate Farms in one week. I hadn’t been there since 2016. The property has become more beautiful since. A lot of times when my large family sessions have little kids it’s a toss up for how things are going to go. When I arrive I have to assess their attention span to see if they need to get out energy, relax or jump right into group photos. I usually like to start with the large family in the beginning because they are pretty much over it after a couple minutes. This was not the case for this group but it was so nice that we had the place all to ourselves so the kids could play hide and seek as I grabbed individual families for their groupings.
Other challenges with large families is finding spots where there is even light. I love it when I can move around a location to give families a variety of the large family and with this group we were able to do that. You might not know this but I didn’t go to school for photography. I actually got my early childhood degree about fourteen years ago and taught preschoolers for ten of them. So when I get to interact with children I thrive because they can be so much fun. I like to say that my degree wasn’t a complete waste because I use it a lot even if it’s just for an hour at a time during my sessions.
This family was a lot of fun and had me laughing before I even arrived to their session. I sometimes find it to be the hardest job because it’s like making friends and then they leave and you never see them again. This isn’t always the case but sometimes it can be. I’m so beyond thankful that our paths crossed and I hope you all enjoy your additional sneak peek.
