What a beautiful day for a wedding at the District 5 Schoolhouse in Zeeland. For me It felt like such a dry season for weddings for so long and it was such an honor to come along side Kerri Jenison Photography before all of mine officially kicked off for the year. This location was a first for me and for a girl afraid of heights there was nothing like crawling up the tiny ladder passageways to the bell tower for a first look. However it was totally worth it. I got to talk to the owner and operator Sarah Lockwood about the charm and history of this place. She’s kind and personable, a gracious host. If you’d like to check it out for yourself they actually have a history on their website. If you’re planning a micro wedding this venue might would be just right for you. Lauren and Nick they maxed the place out at around 200 guests. Some of my favorite items include the multiple chalkboards with plenty of space to have your special calligraphy. The food from Tacos el cunado were a must have and to finish the beautiful amazing personal sized pies. As a teacher herself Lauren put so many adorable touches to all of her details. I can’t think of another location that would be more fitting for her and Nick. I have said it more than once and I’ll say it again that for July in Michigan we sure lucked out. What usually ends up being hot and sticky was actually delightful with a cool breeze and plenty of sunshine for yard games on the lawn.
Congrats to Nick and Lauren. I hope you enjoy this little peek into their wedding day from the view of an assistant photographer.
