Some Brides might not be overly excited about their invitation and that’s okay I still want you to bring it the day of the wedding. The day of you might say, “I forgot my invitation, but oh well I don’t need a picture of it anyway.” This couldn’t be further from the truth and so I’m here today to tell you why.
My main reason is not because I just want a picture of your invitation but that it’s a “connection element”. If you take a peek at some of the images you can see what I mean.

The basic idea is that if you use a similar element in your detail shots somehow, they will pair together so much easier on the blog and in your album! I usually use my couple’s invitations for the large suite shot, earrings, and multiple ring shots!!!
When I’m shooting the reception details, I don’t have as much control over what elements are consistent. However, I do try to think about the album as I’m shooting. I’ll shoot EVERYTHING but I focus on having key shots of all of the most cohesive parts of the day. I know that ultimately these are the shots that are going to be used in an album design.
When I’m working on making your entire day look cohesive I’m trying to pay attention to wedding colors and any theme that might be happening. Your invitation just might be the easiest way to tie in the entire day as I go through your images.
