WHEN CHOOSING COLORS FOR YOUR OUTFITS, I RECOMMEND selecting softer, lighter tones and more muted shades. By avoiding ultra-bright, bold colors, it will help bring all the attention to your faces and let the eye focus on the way you feel about each other. The camera loves shades of soft ivories and cream and muted greens, mixed with sophisticated light neutrals like heather gray, and leather brown. Sometimes going with a very formal holiday wear looks amazing as well.
LONG, FLOWY SKIRTS/DRESSES with feminine ruffles, multiple layers of fabric and the ability to create movement will always photograph beautifully!
COORDINATE DON'T MATCH your outfits. If someone has a pattern then use that pattern's colors. Give everyone their own dominate color and pull from the outfit with the pattern if needed.
PATTERNS: Too many patterns can make your images unpleasing to look at. I also suggest staying away from polyester tops and shirts with logos.
KHAKIS VS. JEANS if you want your images to be as bright as possible instead of your viewer's eyes first seeing your legs. Lighter colored shoes with light colored pants can also do the same.

The camera loves shades of soft pink and muted blues, mixed with sophisticated light neutrals like heather gray, creams, leather brown and white. That softer color palette fits beautifully into almost all natural outdoor environments, and especially complements the Michigan landscapes.

I was impressed on how beautiful the pictures were in our 15 min mini session and the fast time of response, these details make the complete difference between a professional and an amateur. Also the bonus to have neutral pictures not just The Christmas ones that we paid for, It was totally worth it!!!!

After my Christmas mini session with Kara, I shared with her that she made me feel like I had booked a wedding with her. This was just a 15 minute time slot, and I initially had doubts about whether She’d be able to execute in that time. Let me tell you… SHE DID. The pictures exceeded every single expectation that I had. The customer service was amazing. She was always incredibly responsive with any and all questions. Even after getting my pictures back, I had questions about holiday cards; she gladly shared all the wisdom she had regarding the matter.

Working with Kara is the BEST! you might go in nervous or uncomfortable but when you get going its such a great time - She makes you feel so comfortable and at ease to make those happy memories pop out of her pictures. She picks the best locations for the thought you have in mind. For our mini session it was the beautiful glass house - for when we did a Golden Girl photo shoot with my mom she knew the best location at the beach. I will always be contacting her for any photo needs.

Kara is so great to work with! She is professional, efficient and fun. We were in and out in 20 minutes which fits great into our crazy schedule! She is focused on small details asking us to “smooth your hair” or “straighten out your shirt” and knew exactly how to position us. Somehow she captured smiles and laughs from my two teenage boys! She listening to what we needed and we received our photos in record time. I’d recommend her to anyone who needs family pictures, we love our pictures and so does everyone else!
